Initiée en 2018, The island on the island - chapitre I propose une réinterprétation d’une collection d’archives familiales. Composée par plusieurs générations de marins ayant documenté leurs traversées en mer par la photographie, la collection dessine un voyage sans dates et sans indications géographiques autour du Bassin Méditerranéen et de l’océan Atlantique. Usant ces documents comme base de recherche visuelle, le nouvel ensemble qui en résulte explore la construction des mythes familiaux, de leur transmission et moyens de conservation - proposant la mémoire comme histoire ouverte, formée aux hasards d’archivages successifs.

Initiated in 2018, The island on the island - chapter I proposes a reinterpretation of a collection of family archives. Composed by several generations of sailors who have documented their sea crossings through photography, the collection draws a journey without dates or geographical indications around the Mediterranean area and the Atlantic Ocean.
Using these documents as a basis for visual research, this new body of work explores the construction of family myths, their transmission and means of preservation - proposing memory as an open history, randomly shaped by successive archiving.
